Replit credits and billing, explained
Replit credits are dollars. Core costs $20 a month and includes $20 of credits; Pro costs $100 and includes $100 or more. One pool pays for the Agent, hosting, databases, storage and traffic. When it is empty, Replit bills your card as you go, unless you have set a usage limit.
The plans
Prices as of October 2026. Replit changed them in February 2026 (Core went from $25 to $20, Pro replaced Teams).3
| Plan | Price | Credits included | Rollover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Small daily Agent allowance, small monthly cloud allowance. One published app, offline after 30 days. | No |
| Core | $20 a month, $18 billed yearly | $20 a month | No |
| Pro | $100 a month, $90 billed yearly | $100 to $4,000 a month, by tier | Yes, two months per the docs |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
The subscription unlocks features: private apps, publishing, collaborators, Plan Mode. The credits are a prepaid amount of usage, nothing more. A $20 plan does not mean a $20 bill.
What draws from your credits
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Agent | Effort-based, per request, priced when the work is done. Free Mode does not use credits. |
| AI in your app | Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini calls at the provider's public API rate. |
| Autoscale apps | $0.60 per million compute units, $0.40 per million requests. Nothing while idle. |
| Reserved VM | $15, $35, $50 or $130 a month, depending on size. |
| Static sites | Free to host, $0.05 per GiB of traffic. |
| Production database | $0.16 per hour while awake, $0.35 per GiB a month of storage. Development databases are free. |
| App Storage | $0.015 per GiB a month. |
| Outbound traffic | $0.05 per GiB. Core includes 100 GiB a month. |
Cloud prices are the August 2026 ones, when Replit cut most of them.8 Hosting a small app now costs a few dollars a month. The Agent is the line that moves.
How the Agent spends credits
Every request you send the Agent becomes a checkpoint, and each checkpoint is priced by the effort it took. Until June 2025 a checkpoint was a flat $0.25. Now a small change can cost less and a large one more, and the price shows up after the work is done. Hover the usage icon in the Agent tab to see what a checkpoint cost.
Four settings decide how fast credits go:
- Mode. Free Mode costs no credits. Power is the cheaper paid mode, Max uses frontier models and costs more.
- Effort. From Low to Max. Higher effort takes longer and costs more.
- App Testing. The Agent testing your app in a browser is charged by effort too.
- Plan Mode. Cheaper than building, but in a paid mode it can be billed even when no code changes.
When the credits run out
Replit switches to pay-as-you-go. It does not wait for the end of the month: it invoices your card every time usage crosses a billing threshold, which is why some people see a charge every $40 to $60. If a payment fails, published apps can be suspended and have to be published again.
You can also prepay with credit packs, under Settings, Billing, Purchase credit pack:
| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| $100 | $100 |
| $300 | $290 |
| $500 | $480 |
| $1,000 | $950 |
Packs expire six months after purchase, the oldest is used first, and auto-reload buys another one when your balance is low unless you turn it off.
How to cap what you spend
- Go to Settings, Usage, and choose Manage limits under Account usage.
- Set a usage limit. Past it, usage-based services stop until the next cycle or until you raise it. $0.01 means you only ever spend your included credits and packs.
- Optionally set a service shutdown limit, where running services are suspended.
- In Billing, turn off auto-reload.
- Check replit.com/usage weekly, filtered by resource, to see whether it is the Agent or hosting.
A limit stops the spending. It also stops the Agent mid-project and can stop your app, so it works for side projects and not for an app your business runs on. Why the bill gets this high covers the other ways to bring it down.
Questions
How much does Replit cost per month?
Core is $20 a month ($18 a month billed yearly) and Pro is $100 a month ($90 billed yearly). Each includes the same amount in credits. Anything you use beyond the credits, mostly Agent work, is billed on top, so real monthly costs range from $20 to several thousand dollars.
Do Replit credits roll over?
Core credits do not: they reset every billing cycle and unused credits are lost. Pro credits roll over, for two months according to Replit's current docs. Credit packs you buy separately expire six months after purchase.
What happens when my Replit credits run out?
Replit switches to pay-as-you-go and bills your card, invoicing each time usage crosses a billing threshold. If you set a usage limit, usage-based services stop instead until the next cycle or until you raise the limit.
Does Free Mode use credits?
No. Free Mode, launched in August 2026, does not draw from credits. On Core and Pro its allowance resets every five hours and has a weekly cap. When a request needs more, the Agent asks before switching that request to a paid mode.
How do I buy more Replit credits?
On Core or Pro, go to Settings, Billing, Purchase credit pack. Packs come in $100, $300 for $290, $500 for $480 and $1,000 for $950. Auto-reload can buy them for you when your balance is low; turn it off in Billing if you want to decide yourself.
